Schools registered for the 2009/2010 program can submit second round results between April 5th and May 21st 2010.

Canadian National Half-pipe Champion Brad Martin's commitment to fitness helped him secure a spot on the Canadian National Snowboard team at the age of 16. Brad had the opportunity to represent Canada at the 2006 Olympic Games and hopes to reach the podium at home in Canada at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver. As the 2009 ambassador for the Go Active! Fitness Challenge, Brad hopes his experience can inspire Canadian students to reach their goals in the gym, in the classroom or like him on the mountain.

With the goal of promoting physical activity through sport, McDonald's Restaurants of Canada, proud sponsor of the Olympic movement, has developed the Go Active! Fitness Challenge. The Go Active! Fitness Challenge is inspired by the Canada Fitness Awards, but instead of simply focusing on excellence, the emphasis has shifted to individual improvement. To date more than 120,000 students have taken the challenge and now it's your chance.

Make the commitment to fitness in your school
It's as easy at 1, 2, 3!

  • Elementary school teachers register their classes for the Go Active! Fitness Challenge. Registered schools were sent the Go Active! Fitness Challenge kit in the fall of 2009.
  • Teachers test their students on a series of six exercises in the fall and again in the spring looking for an overall improvement.
  • Classes that successfully complete the challenge by submitting their results to www.fitnesschallenge.ca will be sent $200 in Wintergreen physical education credits for their school. Please note that classes must have a minimum of 16 students to count towards the Wintergreen Phys-ed credits. Subsequent classes within the same school will be awarded $200 in Phys-ed credits up to a maximum of $500 per school (3 or more classes).

Registration for the 2009/2010 Go Active! Fitness Challenge is closed. Click on the Register page for further information on future community programs offered by McDonald's Restaurants of Canada.
